Location
Orem sits just 40 miles south of Salt Lake City, the state capital. Interstate 15 has four exits in Orem and provides easy access to Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake International Airport, and connections to other main freeway arteries that serve the Western United States. More that 30 million people live within a 750-mile highway radius, including Salt Lake City, Seattle, Los Angeles, Denver, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Phoenix and Sacramento. Orem is the ninth fastest-growing metropolitan area in the country as a part of the Provo/Orem Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Population
The City of Orem's young, highly-trained work force is one of its greatest assets. The 2000 Census revealed that Orem's population of 84,324 ranked it fifth largest in the state. In addition, Orem is one of the fastest growing areas in the country, having grown 24.8% since 1990. Based on the last census, the median age of the city population was 21.7. Fifty-eight percent of Orem's population are under the age of twenty-five, and seventy-six percent under thirty-five. This young population composition, combined with high levels of education, make for a very capable and hard-working labor force.

Transportation
The City of Orem is located 40 minutes from Salt Lake International Airport via Interstate 15. Salt Lake International is the nation's 25th largest airport, servicing nearly 17 million passengers annually. This airport is served by ten major airlines. In addition to the Salt Lake International Airport, the Orem area is also served by the Provo Municipal Airport, just five minutes south of town.

Over forty trucking companies serve the Orem area with twenty-five terminals located in Utah County. Second day service is easily available within a 750-mile radius. Most of the firms have unused load capacities and are able to handle increased demand.

The Orem area is also served by two major rail carriers: Union Pacific and Southern Pacific. These carriers provide second-morning services to 90% of the western market. Rail passenger service is also available in the Orem area on Amtrak.

Greyhound and Trailways bus lines have terminals in the Orem area. Local public transportation is provided by the Utah Transit Authority, which also provides commuting services between Salt Lake City and Orem/Provo.

Utah is conveniently situated at the crossroads of the West. Easily accessible to Orem, Interstate 80 runs east to New York City and west to San Francisco. Interstate 15 runs north to Canada and south to Los Angeles while Interstate 70 runs east to Denver.
